Reflection on EDTC22: Teach from Your Heart

Teach from your heart is the best teaching style that the teacher may have to let his/her students learn from you. Teaching the students through heart to heart keeps the retention of the learning longer.

There are three teachers we encountered which has different topics (Economics, Knowing One’s Self and Respiratory System) activities and teaching style/approach that makes us happy and lively in the discussion and makes the retention of learning longer.

Teacher 1: Economics

The first teacher introduced her topic through an activity called pass the message but it has twist. She group her class into four and let them sit into a circular chairs with earphones in high volume and pass the message which contains the terms used in the lesson, and the group that pass the message correctly wins. The first teacher shows the importance of having motivation as to catch the attention of the students and he/she must sustain that energy until the last minutes of the class.

Teacher 2: Knowing One’s Self

The teacher introduced the topic by asking a question which serve as the starting point of her topic. She show the art of questioning in every topic that she taught because she lets the students reflects their insights and ideas express from the given word/phrase. I think she achieve all her objectives and keeps a moral lesson after her discussion which you must accept who and what you are because your self is the only one who will do that.

Teacher 3: Respiratory System

The teacher used an activity that lets the group students create a model of lung to let them see by their eyes what happened in our lung when we breathe in and out. She promotes the learning while doing which increases the retention of learning and makes the concepts more concrete. It also improves the camaraderie within the group while learning.

Each teacher did well and I would like to congrats each of them for a job well done, and always remember that there is always a room for improvement because practice makes perfect.
